With the Super Nintendo console and its Sony-manufactured audio CPU, game music experimented an improvement in sound quality. However, the themes composed for its
games didn't increase in complexity. Simple melodies and catchy tunes were still the path chosen by composers, who now had a wider range of sounds to use on their
creations. There was still a limitation on the number of sound channels they could use, and the amount of memory available in cartridges wasn't enough to store
pieces that required musically rich and complex sounds, but these didn't stop game music composers from making some of the greatest works ever heard in video games.
After all, the Super Nintendo lived during the so-called Golden Age of video gaming. And music made an important contribution to that name.
